Access & safety
Shoot it right
Every spot on ShootWorthy carries an access level. This is community information, not an invitation to enter property. You are responsible for permission, permits and entry fees wherever you shoot.
Public land like beaches, street locations and viewpoints. No booking needed, but municipal bylaws can still apply to commercial work, and drone rules always apply. Respect residents and other visitors, especially in living neighbourhoods like Bo-Kaap.
The venue charges for shoots. Fees on spot pages come from photographers and venues and can change without warning. Always confirm the current rate when you book.
Nature reserves, monuments and some public sites need a shoot permit. The spot page tells you where photographers have gotten permits before, but requirements change. Apply before you drive.
Private property. You need the owner's permission before you shoot, every time. Turning up unannounced hurts every photographer who comes after you.
Safety on location
- Read the safety note on the spot page before you go. Photographers add them for a reason.
- For remote or isolated spots, take someone with you and share your live location.
- Keep gear low-key when scouting unfamiliar urban locations.
- Open fields and dams mean weather, livestock and fences. Look around before you commit to a setup.
- If a spot felt unsafe, report it on the spot page so the next photographer knows.
